SENSORii: A LUMINOUS CLOSING FOR ART IN THE CITY
ART In The City (AITC), a flagship programme organised by The Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA) since October 2021, will end with the Sensorium Gallery of Inversion/Immersion (SENSORii) programme (Dec 1-28) at REXKL in Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur.
The AITC initiative featured over 100 programmes for the development of the arts and culture industry to drive the economic status of the local community.
Cendana continues to lead the initiative to support Malaysia’s arts and culture economy, to make Malaysia the regional arts and culture destination and downtown KL the hub for Art In The City.
SENSORii, as the closing event of AITC 2021, is a digital media art exhibition featuring the works of local multimedia artists such as Lim Kok Yoong, KC Tan, Wee Jia Foong, FLUX 28, Ashly Nandong and Azarikh Amran, along with music composed by Ahmad Muriz Che Rose.
SENSORii reveals the story of the city, its daily life and urban context, the places and environments inhabited, the spaces inhabited with artistic techniques and the diversity of technologies reflecting the reality of this existence.
The exhibition is curated by internationally renowned curator Yap Sau Bin, while the technical division is led by Melissa Teoh.
AITC 2021 is the third edition of the annual Cendana event. This year’s Art In The City 2021 achieved significant success with the support, cooperation and commitment of all parties and partners involved in adapting to the new normal during the pandemic.
More than 2,500 jobs were created during AITC from a total of 8,000 opportunities created in 2021 to reach out, restart, revive and rebuild the arts and culture sector.
